Kyle Wolosek starts 2012 With a Bang and Takes First Feature at MMS!

Kyle Wolosek is starting out the 2012 race season just as he ended 2011, fast! Wolosek earned fast time honors by tripping the clock at 20.002 in the Super Stock Division. It was Brian Weinfurter taking the early lead in the 20-lap super stock feature event. Weinfurter held the lead until Marv Flick took over the point on lap three. Flick built up a sizable lead over Weinfurter with fast timer Wolosek working his way through the field. On lap nine, Kyle Wolosek earned the second position with an outside pass of Weinfurter as the two drivers battled down the back stretch. Wolosek wasn’t finished yet, the very talented Wisconsin Rapids driver moved past Marv Flick for the top spot on lap 11 of the 20 lap feature event.

With five laps remaining, Claire Decker and Natalie Decker moved into the podium spots, running second and third respectively. On this particular night however, it was all Kyle Wolosek as he took home the first feature of the year in the super stock division at Marshfield Motor Speedway. Claire Decker and Natalie Decker edged closer to Wolosek at the race finish, but the young ladies who call Eagle River, WI home, settled for second and third respectively. Brian Weinfurter and Marv Flick rounded out the top five.

Dean Zakrzewski Sweeps GSS Opener!

Super Stock drivers were well represented; 16 of them taking the green. Fast timer Dean Zakrzewski waited until, according to him “they all got done wrecking each other” and passed nine others to take the win at the end of a clean sweep of top time, heat and feature win. Patience served him well tonight, as it did for Claire Decker, who started 11th and ran 3rd at the end. Phil Malouf debuted a #32 blue Super Stock, succumbing to Zakrzewski at the end. Kyle Davis ran well, rounding out the top 5.

MMS 2012 Schedule Set For Up-Coming Season!

Fairchild, WI – March 11, 2012 – The 2012 Marshfield Motor Speedway race season will begin in less than 4 weeks! With the first race slated for April 28th, Promoter Wayne Brevik stated, “We are very excited to get our season kicked off with the Yellow River Racing Series super late model special.” Brevik further stated, “This is the first ashpalt race slated in Wisconsin, so all our fans deprived of racing for nearly 8 months should be pretty excited.”

Divisions competing on the half-mile paved oval this year will be the Super Late Models, ASA Midwest Tour, ASA Trucks, (3) Limited Late Model Specials, (2) Slam Fests, CWSSA Super Stocks, CWMSA 4-Cylinders, Bandits, and selected Vintage, Midwest Mod 4-Cylinder, and two-man Crusier dates.

Promotions, Marketing Partners, and other specials will be added to the schedule prior to final posting to website, and when schedule goes to print.

Rumors vs. Facts 2012 Racing Season

Rumors VS. Facts 2012 Racing Season

Just thought I would drop a letter out for the racers and fans to know what is happening for the 2012 racing season at Golden Sands Speedway.

First of all yes, there is a for sale sign out in front of the facility. This was done to offer the track for sale to anyone local who might be interested in owning it. The most interested party is a party from out of state and we just wanted to offer the facility locally.

As of now, Darrel & Shela Bassuener still own the facility and plan to operate it along with Craig Bassuener and Amy Kolo on an every other week basis.

Super Lates, Super Stocks, Pure Stocks, 4Cylinders, and Cruisers will run in each event except the specials in which those divisions will be named.

If a race is rained out, the rain date will be the following Friday night. A tentative schedule is posted and more details will be made available. We are working on our events and promotions as we speak.

A rules meeting for all divisions will be announced by the end of this week and will be held at the Ridges Golf Course inWisconsin Rapids. I will be attending the State Park Speedway rules meeting to keep consistencies between the two tracks.

STATE PARK SPEEDWAY PRESEASON MEETING

Wednesday, February 8th at the Howard Johnson Hotel

Wausau, WI – State Park Speedway announces a date and time for its 2012 preseason meeting. The meeting will take place Wednesday, February 8th at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Rib Mountain. The meeting will run from 7pm – 9:15 with time breakdowns for different divisions; they are as follows:

7pm – 7:30pm – Four Cylinders – discussion about mini-mods and possible addition of a mini-stock class. We ask that all people interested in a mini-stock class at State Park Speedway attend the meeting.

7:30-7:50 – Pure Stocks

7:50-8:20 – Super Late Models

8:20-8:50 – Super Stocks and Limited Late Model discussion – there will be discussion about the possible addition of a Limited Late Model class at SPS. All who would be interested should attend this meeting.

8:50-9:15 – General Discussion

It is strongly encourage drivers attend the meeting for their division to offer input on rules, procedures, etc. Also, if interested in a Mini-Stock class or Limited Late Model class please attend the meeting for discussion.

Marshfield Motor Speedway Ends Year with Annual Awards Banquet!

Marshfield’s Eagles Club was host to the 2011 Marshfield Motor Speedway Annual Awards Banquet, held Friday, November 11th.

Curt Keene and Andrew Bartelt served as Masters of Ceremonies. Kevin Ramsell and Mike “Lumpy” Lemke of ASA were on hand to speak, as was Diana Gruman of Rasmussen College. Award winning tv reporter Bill Holland of Holland Enterprises, Tom Loos of Tom Loos Racing Photography, and Ed Gerl of Ed Gerl Productions were also special guests of the evening.

Numerous track champions were crowned as well as Sportsmanship awards, Rookie of the Year awards, Most Improved Driver awards, Sponsor Recognition awards, Employee Regonition awards, Yellow River Racing Series Champion, amongst numerous other awards.

With several hundred people present for the evening’s events, which was concluded with music by J.M.E. Disc Jockey Service, it was a great night had by all!
